@Bentley Yep, we've been pretty fortunate. This thing is put together with the web coding equivalent of chewing gum and baling wire; but we are starting to get this thing in shape, and ready for prime time.

@tex that is some good advise.

If you are paying for a service (any service), as opposed to just using a free service; you have much greater legal standing when the service provider does not honor the terms of the agreement, or tries to "monkey" with it.

Remember: Free e-mail is free for a reason.

Free e-mail used to provide anonymity, but that's not even true anymore, Google / gmail requires you to link a mobile phone to your gmail account, as do the other major free e-mail providers.

We are going to see a lot more online censorship in the coming months and years, as the #SiliconValleyElite try to maintain their monopoly of online speech.

Already confirmed by multiple sources: the US government is planning on "fact checking" people's private text messages for what the government deems as "misinformation"/

Start transitioning your e-mail use away from:

gmail
hotmail
yahoo

and the other big free e-mail services.

Instead, use a paid e-mail service that you trust, maybe even buy your own domain name and have your e-mail served from there through a paid web-hosting service. So that you have a paid service contract.

It is common knowledge that Google / gmail and the other big free e-mail providers read the contents of your e-mails, so they can send you ads.

HOWEVER, they are NOW beginning to scan the contents of your incoming e-mails and possibly your outgoing e-mails for what they may deem as "objectionable content" or "spam".

This came from one of our users (who does not want to be named) they were e-mailing friend who uses a gmail. The sender's e-mail comes from a reputable business and contained a signature line that includes following link to a website that offers #bible verses.

@hoodie Bro, it's the same thing as using code that is on another server that we can't look through and check.

1. We don't know what is in their code, and it could include spyware, or some other bad stuff.

2. If an online platform (like ours) relies on an app to be used on a mobile devices, the maker of that mobile device, can simply prevent users from downloading or installing the app, and essentially censor that platform.

We do all our own coding and web design, this is how we keep the highest levels of independence, and resistance to being taken offline by the #SiliconValleyElite .

@cindy No, not at all. the 3 cookies that we use on this site are simple "run of the mill" user session cookies that are created solely by our site, they are NOT 3rd party cookies.

They are not for user tracking, they are only to facilitate the proper logging of comments and other very basic functions of logging in and logging out users, and ensuring access control; and remembering user settings like open text boxes and such, nothing else.

@phoneguy Well again, the programming and design staff of Twpter.com are all volunteers and hobbyists; we all have day jobs outside of the fields of Information Technology and Computer Science.

Also, we write all our own code, and only use code routines that are open source, "no strings attached", and that we understand 100% , there is no proprietary, 3rd party "Mystery Code" on our site that tracks our users.

We DO NOT use any external code libraries like Google APIs, or GitHub

or use ANY CODE that has dependencies or needs to access any other server.

So if we want special features and effects on our site, we need to code them "from scratch", we won't build on what others have done, if there are "strings attached", that is if we need to link to some other server to make that code work; because the "other half" of that code is proprietary, and requires a link to some Silicon Valley behemoth that wants to mine our user data.

@cindy Our site is not about privacy, our site is an outlet for people who can't get their comments shown on the mainstream social media platforms.

Also, we do NOT accept any credit card payments or ask users to provide any private information; so there really is no need for an SSL certificate.

In fact, having an SSL certificate is a means by which the big tech companies can deny small sites like ours access to the internet and shut us down.

As a website operator you need to link a phone number and a credit card to the purchase of an SSL certificate. There have been instances where credit card companies and companies that issue SSL certificates discriminating against websites they don't like, and refusing to provide service.

Something like this has already happened to another alternative social media platform:

@Larry I am sure Larry that you cannot help yourself and have to use all this intellectual gobble-de-gook which probably many of the users here have no idea how to understand (including myself). I only have a very simple "education" but, I am bilingual and have the same problem with both languages. It is just that I never had the time, or it seemed so, or didn't see the need to upgrade my intellect during my challenging lifetime until today in my old age. I was busy "making a living" and time just flew by. I always thought of improvement as something that could wait until tomorrow and tomorrow just ran over me. Now, I just want to "enjoy" the rest of my life and be not bothered with societies ideas on how to live, not meaning that I will not comment on what other people have to say and write. Yes, I know, it is never too late to "learn"! I get it, but beg to differ for some people and situations!

No, you simply dumped some unsubstantiated racial / ethnic theory here on Twpter and accused me of offending you when I simply asked you for some sort of proof or citation, and your are now threatening to leave the platform.

I say good riddance sir. You do not seek freedom of speech and expression; you seek fascism and intellectual dictatorship.

I don't think you get how this free speech thing works.

I told you and everyone that we ( twpter.com ) will not censor, hide or delete comments of anyone, unless those comments violate US laws and are not protected free speech, or if they meet our very narrow definition of spam.

TRUE Free speech includes debate which requires the speaker to either backup their positions with some sort of evidence when challenged, through some citation that affirms their position; or otherwise allow their speech to accept the label of "OPINION".

I did not attack you personally, and I had no idea you are bilingual until you mentioned it; and I really don't care, it does not affect your intelligence or grasp of reason and logic.

@tex I'm glad you think it's that funny. Some people take these online arguments seriously or even as a matter of national defense. I know of at least one nation that employs a literal army of people to engage "enemies" of the state on social media and message boards.
