It's actually kind of a relief in a way. The average American is FAR more likely to be killed or injured by a drunk driver while driving home on a Friday or Saturday night, than from some act of Al Qaeda / Jihadi inspired terrorism.

This is an interesting question to ask about slavery in the United States.
I will put it further to say that slavery wasn't really abolished in the United States of America, it only changed forms.
The 13th Amendment to the bill of rights of US constitution, ratified on December 6, 1865 abolishes the sort of slavery that involves the visible whips and chains.
Some 48 years later, the 16th Amendment to the US constitution, ratified February 3, 1913 establishes Congresses's right to impose a Federal Income tax. Imposing the sort of slavery that involves the taking of a man's labor through less visible means.
As this video points out, if someone has claim to your time and labor, you are their slave.
So in reality, the United States of America did not abolish slavery, in 1865, they simply reformed it in 1913 to involve tax forms and wage withholding, instead of whips and chains.

@Bentley Yep, we've been pretty fortunate. This thing is put together with the web coding equivalent of chewing gum and baling wire; but we are starting to get this thing in shape, and ready for prime time.

If you are paying for a service (any service), as opposed to just using a free service; you have much greater legal standing when the service provider does not honor the terms of the agreement, or tries to "monkey" with it.
Remember: Free e-mail is free for a reason.
Free e-mail used to provide anonymity, but that's not even true anymore, Google / gmail requires you to link a mobile phone to your gmail account, as do the other major free e-mail providers.
We are going to see a lot more online censorship in the coming months and years, as the #SiliconValleyElite try to maintain their monopoly of online speech.

@Larry I am sure Larry that you cannot help yourself and have to use all this intellectual gobble-de-gook which probably many of the users here have no idea how to understand (including myself). I only have a very simple "education" but, I am bilingual and have the same problem with both languages. It is just that I never had the time, or it seemed so, or didn't see the need to upgrade my intellect during my challenging lifetime until today in my old age. I was busy "making a living" and time just flew by. I always thought of improvement as something that could wait until tomorrow and tomorrow just ran over me. Now, I just want to "enjoy" the rest of my life and be not bothered with societies ideas on how to live, not meaning that I will not comment on what other people have to say and write. Yes, I know, it is never too late to "learn"! I get it, but beg to differ for some people and situations!

A tale about the downside of conformity.
Asians, particularly the Japanese have a very ordered society that highly values conformity and "Going along to get along".
We Americans have a very different view on this.
This comes to light recently especially in the case of the hysteria surrounding the #COVID19
#scamdemic and the enormous peer pressure imposed by our government and governments around the world as well as #MainstreamMedia , to push people to take an experimental #VACCINE for which the #BigPharma companies that produced it, were given immunity from product liability in the event it caused adverse reactions, including death.
Critical thinking skills are survival skills. We live under a government that is corrupt and does not have our best interests in mind.
